When Do I Need Deck & Fence Cleaning Services?
Before
After - Deck Clean
Outdoor timber surfaces are significantly affected by the elements. They build up dirt, algae, and mould, which is not only unsightly but, if left, will deteriorate the timber.
Removing dirt, algae, and mould growth from your deck is essential to prevent slips and falls. Washing your timber deck will extend the structure's lifespan, so you can relax and entertain safely. We recommend having your timber deck washed before staining or painting it to prevent trapping of unwanted dirt and growth.
TLC Softwash will first spray your surface with our cleaning agent, which removes mould/fungus and kills the spores. The areas are then pressure-washed using medium to high water pressure. See our mould and lichen treatment service for more on how we tackle stubborn growth.
Deck Cleaning Services
There is nothing we love more than entertaining friends and family on the deck over summer.
Over time, your timber deck can become stained, lose its lustre, and become slippery. This can make for an unsafe and unattractive space for entertaining.
TLC Softwash can take care of this for you with our deck cleaning service, restoring your outdoor space's safety and shine.
Fence Cleaning Service
Before
After - Fence Clean
Keeping your fence looking tidy and healthy is just as important as any other part of your property. Whether your fence is timber, plaster, vinyl, or another material, TLC Softwash can help you improve its look and extend its lifespan.
Regular maintenance of your fencing is important. We recommend that painted fences be cleaned every 2 years (at a minimum) to maintain great kerb appeal and prevent deterioration of the timber or other materials. Our deck and fence cleaning process is tailored to each surface, ensuring your fence is left spotless, not damaged.
Unpainted timber fencing should be washed more regularly to prevent the growth of moss, mould, and lichen. If left, this growth will eventually cause the timber to rot, and your fence will need to be replaced.
Why Choose TLC Softwash for Exterior Cleaning?
Decking and fence cleaning is a very laborious job and, if not done correctly, can cause damage to your timber surfaces. The TLC Softwash team knows how to utilise the right products and just the right amount of pressure to bring your decking or fence back to life, without the timber furring, splitting, or leaving behind lines.

Deck & Fence Cleaning FAQ’s
-
No. Our deck and fence cleaning technicians are highly trained in the proper techniques and products for washing timber decks or fences. We have seen some awful results where people have chosen to wash their timber fence or deck themselves, or have engaged a company not trained to carry out this work properly.
-
We recommend waiting 3-5 days for the timber to dry out properly before applying your stain or paint.
-
Yes, everything will need to be removed from the deck before we wash it. If you are unable to move these items yourself, please let us know, and we can allow additional time for the team to move them for you.
-
This depends on the material and level of exposure to sun, rain, and shade. As a general rule, we recommend having your deck cleaned once a year, and your fence cleaned every 1-2 years. Decks and fences in shaded, damp areas may need more frequent attention to prevent moss, mould, and lichen from taking hold.
-
A domestic pressure washer used incorrectly can easily damage soft timber, which is why we discourage attempting a thorough clean yourself. When you call TLC Softwash for deck cleaning services, we use the appropriate pressure, agents, and techniques for each surface to deliver safe, even, and long-lasting results.
-
Both. Many of our customers choose to have their deck and fence cleaned in the same visit for convenience and a consistent, fresh look across their entire property. Our approach to cleaning fences with pressure washer techniques is tailored to the material, so we’re also happy to quote for either service individually.
